Wat is " Acrylic Pouring" nu eigenlijk en hoe doe je dat?
Acrylic Pouring is een abstracte vrije kunstvorm waarbij verdunde acrylverf op een canvas wordt gegoten waarbij je ontzettend leuke effecten krijgt. Hieronder ga ik wat meer uitleg geven.
Tegenwoordig kom je er niet meer onderuit, waarbij Acrylic Pouring eerst werd gezien als een leuke "Hobby" maar geen "echte" kunst, zie je het tegenwoordig overal en gelukkig maar.
Let maar eens op bij series en films op de televisie, op de muren zie je heel vaak dat er Acrylic Pouring schilderijen hangen en dat het de kunstwereld veroverd heeft.
Het leuke aan deze kunstvorm is dat iedereen van jong tot oud het kan doen, het staat je vrij om welke pouring techniek dan ook te gebruiken, er komt altijd iets moois uit.
DE VERF:
Acrylverf uit een tube of potje is meestal gemaakt om te schilderen met een kwast en dus redelijk dik.
Verf voor acrylic pouring mengen we vaak zelf zodat het zo dun is dat je het kunt gieten uit een beker.
De dikte kan variëren van de dikte van vla tot de dikte van halfvolle melk (Om even een idee te geven).
Waar meng je dat dan mee?
Veel verfmerken hebben daar een speciaal Pouring medium voor ontwikkeld, een verf medium op acryl- (polymeer) basis. Men doet bv 1 deel acrylverf in een beker en voegt daar bv 2 delen
pouringmedium aan toe om het te verdunnen. Je kunt niet ongestraft verf verdunnen zonder kwaliteit te verliezen door bv alleen maar water toe te voegen, vandaar dat een Pouringmedium erg geschikt
is voor deze kunstvorm. Het zorgt ervoor dat je werk mooi opdroogt en vaak voegt het ook een mooie glans toe. Er zijn hoogwaardige verf merken waarbij je wel alleen wat water aan toe zou kunnen
voegen, maar met bv verf van de Action (Hobby verf) gaat dat niet lukken. Het pigment percentage is gewoonweg niet hoog genoeg om daar nog mooie resultaten mee te verkrijgen.
Als je een beginner bent en je wilt graag eerst ontdekken of Acrylic Pouring iets voor jou is dan is er natuurlijk niets mis met het gebruiken van hobby verf.
Gebruik je hobby verf met een degelijk pouring medium dan kun je zelfs hele mooie resultaten krijgen.
Wat doe je dan precies met die gemengde verf?
Nou, dat verschilt heel erg per techniek wat je moet doen, maar het leuke is dat er ontelbare mogelijkheden zijn.
Er is bijvoorbeeld een techniek die noemen we "Flip Cup"
Het gaat als volgt, je pakt een canvas en die zet je op "Voetjes" (Dat kunnen omgekeerde plastic bekers zijn maar bv ook onze handige Canvas stands). Op het canvas kun je nu alvast een basislaag
van 1 kleur voorziet, je giet het er op uit je beker en vervolgens ga je het canvas kantelen totdat de verf goed verdeeld is en er niet meer een hele dikke laag verf opzit. De verf valt dan op je
tafel. Vervolgens ga je een beker vullen met al je verdunde kleurtjes acrylverf.
Als de beker vol genoeg is dan zet je hem in 1 snelle beweging op zijn kop op je canvas en laat hem daar even staan. Daarna til je voorzichtig je beker omhoog en alle kleuren zitten nu op je
canvas en zijn een beetje gemengd door elkaar. Dan ga je je canvas weer kantelen totdat de verf goed verdeeld is op het canvas en kijk eens wat een mooie vormen er zijn ontstaan! Een echt
abstract kunstwerk helemaal door jou gemaakt.
Er zijn met deze " Flip cup" techniek nog veel meer mogelijkheden om andere effecten te verkrijgen maar daar zal ik me een andere keer over uitweiden.

What exactly is "Acrylic Pouring" and how do you do it?
Acrylic Pouring is an abstract free art form in which diluted acrylic paint is poured onto a canvas, creating very nice effects. Below I will explain a little more.
Nowadays you can't get out of it, where Acrylic Pouring was first seen as a fun "Hobby" but not a "real" art, you see it everywhere nowadays and that's fortunate.
Just pay attention to series and films on television, on the walls you often see that Acrylic Pouring paintings are hanging on the walls and that it has conquered the art world.
The nice thing about this art form is that everyone from young to old can do it, you are free to use any pouring technique, something beautiful always comes out.
Acrylic paint from a tube or jar is usually made for painting with a brush and is therefore fairly thick.
We often mix paint for acrylic pouring ourselves so that it is so thin that you can pour it from a cup.
The thickness can vary from the thickness of custard to the thickness of semi-skimmed milk (just to give you an idea).
What do you mix that with?
Many paint brands have developed a special Pouring medium for this, a paint medium on an acrylic (polymer) basis. You put eg 1 part acrylic paint in a cup and add eg 2 parts pouring medium to dilute it. You cannot dilute paint with impunity without losing quality by adding water, for example, which is why a Pouring medium is very suitable for this art form. It ensures that your work dries nicely and often it also adds a nice shine. There are high-quality paint brands to which you could only add some water, but with paint from the Action (Hobby paint) for example, that will not work. The pigment percentage is simply not high enough to get good results with it.
If you are a beginner and you would like to discover first if Acrylic Pouring is for you then there is of course nothing wrong with using hobby paint.
Use your hobby paint with a decent pouring medium and you can even get very nice results.
What exactly do you do with that mixed paint?
Well, that differs very much per technique what you have to do, but the nice thing is that there are countless possibilities.
For example, there is a technique that we call "Flip Cup"
It works as follows, you take a canvas and put it on "Feet" (These can be inverted plastic cups, but also our handy Canvas stands). You can now already provide a base layer of 1 color on the canvas, pour it on from your cup and then tilt the canvas until the paint is well distributed and there is no longer a very thick layer of paint on it. The paint will then fall onto your table. Then you will fill a cup with all your diluted colors of acrylic paint.
When the cup is full enough, you put it upside down on your canvas in 1 quick movement and leave it there for a while. Then you carefully lift your cup and all the colors are now on your canvas and are a bit mixed together. Then you will tilt your canvas again until the paint is well distributed on the canvas and look what beautiful shapes have emerged! A truly abstract work of art made entirely by you.
With this "Flip cup" technique there are many more possibilities to obtain other effects, but I will elaborate on that another time.
